The commercial maneuvers

The checkride maneuvers described control input by control input, with the ACS standards for each.

  1. 1Steep turns50 degrees of bank, both directions: five more degrees than the private test, and a very different airplane.12 min
  2. 2The chandelleA maximum-performance 180-degree climbing turn, flown in two halves: constant bank first, then constant pitch.13 min
  3. 3The lazy eightTwo symmetric 180-degree turns, each combining a climb and a descent, in continuously changing pitch and bank.13 min
  4. 4Eights on pylonsPivotal altitude, the sighting reference line, and correcting with pitch alone, never rudder.15 min
  5. 5The steep spiralA gliding descent of at least three full turns around a point, engine at idle, radius and airspeed held constant.12 min
  6. 6The power-off 180Engine at idle abeam the landing spot: energy management, glide angle control, and a touchdown at or beyond a chosen point.13 min
